I am reading a really great book right now this chapter hit me like a ton of bricks, it is powerful!
I know it is long but please take the time to read it.
Through the years some have tried to discredit the pre-tribulation rapture theory by calling it the secret rapture. Of course, nowhere in scripture is the term secret applied to this event. However, anyone who does not participate in the rapture will not actually see it, for it will occur in the "twinkling of an eye." The work twinkling has been defined as a "a gleam in your eye,? which is faster than the eye can see. The occurrence would much better be labeled the sudden rapture.
But how sudden is sudden?
It's no time at all. Scripture describes the translation of Enoch this way:"Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for god took him" (Genesis 5:24) HE WAS NOT. One minute he was waling with god, feet on the warm dust of planet earth, sunshine warming his shoulders, the fragrance of the fields in his nostrils and then he was not. With no warning, no buildup, no mysterious quivering of the air, he was simply gone. Just that fast. From here to there.
I expect the rapture to be electrifyingly sudden but not secret for when Christ calls His living saints to be with him, millions of people will suddenly vanish from the earth. An unsaved person who happens to be in the company of a believer will know immediately that his friend has vanished. There will certainly be worldwide recogniton of the fact, for when over one-half of a billion people suddenly depart this earth, leaving their earthly belongings behind, pandemonium and confusion will certainly reign for a time.
A million conversations will end mid sentence.
A million phone receivers will suddenly go dead.
A woman will reach for a mans hand in the dark...and no one will be there.
A man will turn with a laugh to slap a colleague on the back and his hand will move through empty air.
A basketball player will make a lengh-of-the-floor pass to a teammate streaking downcourt and find there is not one there to receive it. And not referee to call it out-of-bounds.
A mother will pull back the covers in a bassinet,smelling the sweet baby smell one moment but suddenly kissing empty space and looking into empty blankets.
Think of the countless homes Where, "in the twinkling of an eye," only clothes will remain in the chair where believer sat moments before. Consider the passengers aboard airplanes with a christian crew. Many believe that the rapture will result in titanic chaos as christian auto and bus drivers, train engineers, pilots, and others suddenly vanish. The rapture just may create the greatest freeway gridlock in history!
The world will somehow have to come to terms with between 500 million to one billion missing Christians. The ensuing outcry of sorrow, loss, and confusion will make the rapture a well-publicized event, dominating the media for weeks and weeks.
Unsaved mothers left behind will sorrow intensely over the sudden loss of their children. The alone would make the event anything but secret. Unexpected, yes! Unseen, yes! But not secret. The absence of millions of people will occupy the minds of those left behind until the events of the tribulation begin and the revelation of the Antichrist, the man of sin, will crowd thoughts of the rapture out of their minds.
The world will recognize the rapture...but to late to prepare for it.
I have no words after reading this. I pray daily that my family members and my husbands family members will be saved in these last days and that my friends would find the goodness of God. God's word clearly speaks about the tribulation period ( the seven years after the rapture) and it's a bad scene. It hurts deep, deep inside of me to know that mothers will be left without there children, wifes without there husbands, etc. This is real life not some made up religion, this is really going to happen. I pray that your heart is right when Christ comes.
